God-fidence
Dear diary,
Insecurity is not a new concept that has developed. Yet, in recent years, we've seen an increase in insecurity with the surge in social media expectations. As women (and men) of God, we have to find healthy ways to overcome insecurity in order to boldly walk into what God has for us. But our confidence shouldn't come from ourselves; it should come from the mighty God that we serve. The God who has no equal has equipped us to advance his kingdom here on earth, all before his son Jesus returns. With a great task like that, we can't let insecurity stand in our way. We need God-fidence, or confidence in God. Today, let's talk about God-fidence and how to overcome insecurity.
Fear God
A common obstacle that can keep us from reaching our God-given confidence is fear. We often times think up different scenarios about what other people may say, think, or feel about walking in the path that is driven by the confidence of who our Lord is. Listen to me when I say this: Do not fear people. The enemy wants to keep you scared of other people. If he is able to cripple you with fear of other people, you will never get to walk in the God-fidence that he has for you. But people are not to be feared, God is. God made man out of dust. They live, breathe, and eat the same way we do. However, God operates in a completely different realm. Having the fear of God means having reverence for an understanding of who he is: his character, his strength, his being. When you have a revelation like this, you are in awe of him. With a God like that on your side, how can we fear mere men?
"But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him."
Luke 12:5
Identity in Christ
Know who you are in Christ. That’s where true confidence begins to grow. The titles and acolytes we get here on earth are not strong foundations for confidence because they don’t stand the test of time. Being a straight 'A' student is only relevant when you’re in school. But being a daughter of the most high God is something that is sustainable because it is attached to an everlasting God. You will begin to develop unshakable confidence when you attach yourself to an unshakable God. Through the process of knowing who you are in Christ, you begin to fill yourself with truth because Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. Read your word and begin to walk in the truth that God has for you. Pray that God reveals who you are in his sight and that you begin to see yourself in that way too! Where you are now is nothing compared to where he will take you.
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
1 Peter 2:9
God-fidence is Attached to Bigger Purpose
Whatever you are called to do in your journey with Christ is aligned with a purpose bigger than you. Your one act of boldness could lead many people to heaven. But on the other end, it can keep hope from reaching people. Your God-fidence is a key component in driving you to do the will of God in your life. Don’t let fear, insecurity, or lack of self-confidence drive you to your demise. Keep God's word etched deep in your heart and his purpose in your mind as you navigate through life. There may be times when we feel low in confidence, scared, and a bit insecure, but always remember that God is there. He is our ultimate source and strength. Lean on him. That’s where our true confidence lies.
"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."
Romans 8:28
The world is so bold about sexual immorality, greed, and other sins, so children of God need to be more bold as well. Bold about the gospel of Jesus Christ, our savior. Bold about the kingdom of God. Bold about the love and light that we share. If we are not careful, we can allow the world to place us under a table. But with God-fidence, we are a lamp to be placed for all to see. (Matt. 5:15-16)
Lord, thank you that we don't have to rely on our own strength in order to accomplish your will. I ask for strength to push your purpose without fear. I give you all the glory and honor. Amen.
- xoxo God's Girl
